About a month ago I took my first plane ride ever! I went to Minnesota to see my wonderful best friend Lindsey. I needed to get away for awhile so I went out there for a week and it was a blast. Not gonna lie I thought it might be a little boring out there since it is a lot of cornfields and hospitals, but there was so much to do I was amazed. Now prepare yourself because I have a lot of pictures that will be going up, and many of them are landscape so stick with me.
Right off the bat let me tell you about my first plane ride. To say I was nervous would be an epic understatement. I think I have watched too many shows about planes and security because I was worried about not following some guideline and then not being allowed on the plane. Based on my luck that would most likely happen to me. Thank the Lord above it did not. The carrier I took was Sun Country and I highly recommend it to everyone out there. It is not a large carrier, but they are worth it. I only paid around $320 for both flights and picking my own seat. I had a nonstop flight to MN which no other carrier did. The plane is not a huge one which was oddly comforting. By golly I had the whole row to myself! I really did not take advantage of it though cause I felt bad, but it was perfect for when everyone once and awhile I would remember how high up in the air I was. All in all my first flight was great, a little bumpy before the landing, but hell I will take it!
There was so much to do in the city of Rochester, movies on the lawn, tons of stores, community events and just beautiful scenery. We went to the Mall of America as soon as I got off the plane. Then we went back relaxed at Lindsey's and went out for some drinks. It had been far too long since the last time I saw her so pretty much anything we did would have been fine for me. I am truly blessed to have her as a best friend because not only did she open her home to me, but she and her boyfriend also made sure we always had fun stuff to do and made sure I had an awesome time.
As you will see in the next few pictures, Minnesota is beautiful. Now as someone born and raised in New England I will always find beauty in being able to see mountains and hills everywhere, but seeing rows of corn go on for miles is so surreal. The way they are lined makes it look like a wave going across the hill. We went to a lake 45 minutes away from where they live and I was in love with it. Being able to see Minnesota on one side and Wisconsin on the other was super cool. And they were within swimming distance for the adventurous.
I had so much fun while I was there and I cannot wait to go back when the time comes up. Not only was it great to see Lindsey, but it was great to be part of the new place she calls home. It was nice just being able to see the Mayo Clinic where she works, and just having goofy times together like we did in college. We did have Bridezilla marathons almost everyday before bed. As someone who never went anywhere alone, it was so freeing. I feel like I can conquer the world now. Even if it is one blog post at a time.
