Mini Road trip to Maine

Last weekend was a family weekend in Bethal, Maine. It is about a 3 hour drive so I took most pictures from the backseat of the car while I listened to my mom and grandmother go at it. Mirror to the future I tell ya. While the drive is much to be desired, the scenery is beautiful. We stayed at a hotel we have been staying at since I was 10 which made it seem like a home away from home. I barely took any pictures of my family because we were drinking most of the time and we have a rule of when your family members look like crap, those pictures never see the light of day. That being said here are my pictures from Maine :)

As we crossed the bridge into Maine, which my mom can not drive due to fear of heights. My grandmother drove, which was equally horrifying.

Getting into the part of Maine that reminded me of Minnesota. The color of that sky though, can not try to recreate that color. This is the part of Maine where there are not many towns or people in the towns. Actually it was the first time I had been in that part of Maine with the new highway that they put in.

my favorite

Clearly I am not a photographer, but I am in love with these pictures. When we were about 30 minutes away I told my mom pedal to the metal because the sunset would be amazing from the hotel. I just love how the sun is slowly going down but shining like crazy. It is rare these days to take a picture without something man-made being in it, and I think that is why I like these ones. The sun breaking over only nature is a sight to be seen.

Told you it would be epic! These pictures do not do the sunset justice. It was like the sky was on fire in a cool way. I only got a picture one night we were there because I was doing family stuff the rest of the time. That sunset though.

After playing in the arcade with my cousins for a few hours on the last day I realized in all the years going, I had never been on the back deck of the hotel. The land behind the hotel was about 5 times the size of the hotel and went on for miles I could not capture. If it had not been 20 degrees out I would have gone exploring. Seeing nothing but land for miles is a reminder how small we all are. Also it is refreshing that there is still land that is untouched.

Finally on the long ride home, exhausted and sore from a night of sleeping funny, I was spooked out by the fog that rolled in. There is a lake in these pictures, you just can not see it. I was super thankful I was not driving in this because fog at home is one thing, fog in the mountains is a whole other ball game. Well that is my trip to Maine. I swear I did other things besides take pictures of the landscape, I just have no evidence of this. Hope you enjoyed the pictures!

Fashion: Thanksgiving Looks

Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and with parties and dinners about to happen the one thing on every one's mind besides "what will I bring?" is "what will I wear?". I know that for me, I want to look put together, but still have my own flair. Since I know I will be seeing family, and friends family members, I want to look stylish and put together at the same time. I do not like to wear anything revealing or anything too stuffy. It is important to remember that at any gathering, large or small, it is going to get hot. Whether it be from a large family, or the oven heating up the whole house, at some point you might regret wearing a bulky sweater and wool pants. That being said I have put together 4 outfits that can be worn from formal to casual functions. They look good, and are also appropriate for family. I would rock all of these if I had that many parties to go to.

The look above is a great way to take a dress and take it into the cooler months. By adding tights the dress becomes weather appropriate and gives outfit some color without taking away from the purple. I would recommend opaque tights and steering away from the cable knit tights because again, it is gonna get hot. Now I do not wear scarfs as part of my outfit, but I do like this combo. It would also work if a neckline was a bit too low and needed to be covered up. For accessories I added two gold rings that would pop against the purple. A toned down outfit like this would be great to make your hair and makeup be the stand out.

This outfit might be my favorite out of all 4. I would wear this to the dinner I have with my friends because it is more casual, and would help when the house gets hot. When I have dinner with my friends, we all are in the kitchen getting dishes together, so it does get pretty steamy in there. Also you never can be sure of who might show up, so looking a little sexy is never a problem. The chiffon shirt with the jeans has a casual look, but still is dressy enough that when you sit down you would never know you had jeans on. The accessories make this outfit in my opinion. Pearls and light colored gold dress the outfit more than silver would. Like I said before, I would totally wear this and love it.

This outfit is great for many reasons. It is dressy and casual at the same time. The sweater is a wonderful royal blue and is not too thick. Also it is a slim fit and quarter length sleeve which will not swallow who ever wears it. Skinny brown pants allow style and comfort and a flat is great for family functions where kids might be running around everywhere. The stack of bangles add some color and texture without having to add too many accessories. This is an outfit I would wear for dinner with my family, it is cute, comfortable, and appropriate.

Now this outfit is definitely on the formal side. Personally, I have no experience in a formal Thanksgiving dinner, but if I did I would wear this. A light cream sweater and lace skirt are the perfect combo. Yes the both might lend themselves to a grandma feel, but the skirt is just tight enough to show what you got, and long enough not to get looks from family members. The cream sweater has a larger knit, almost sheer, showing a little bit of skin while still being covered up. The pops of pink add some youthfulness to the outfit. Pink and black are my favorite combo, but with small pink accents it is not too overwhelming.

There you go, 4 Kim approved outfits for Thanksgiving that still have style without offending anyone. Never wear anything you would wear to a bar, unless you can add a tank top or sweater over it. Have fun picking out outfits, I know I will.

Beauty Review :Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Hardener

As someone who works part time at a flower store, my nails are constantly getting beat up. This is especially sad since I love to do my nails. Personally, I like when my nails look nice just because it makes you look put together. Also nothing gives me the wiggins more than nails that are bitten or torn up. I am not saying that a person needs to have a manicure every week, lord knows I have not had one since high school. All I am saying is your nails should be clean and trimmed at all times. Think about it, if you shake someone's hand, hand them anything, or have to point at things on a regular basis, people are seeing your nails. Well at the flower store my nails are getting torn up by all the constant opening of flower boxes, cleaning of flowers and just generally get dirty. That would be fine if that is all I have to do, however when I am working with customers showing them flowers, and wrapping bouquets, they see my nails. I needed something that I could wear that would make my nails look good, protect them, and make them stronger. Let me tell you I found the best product ever. Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Hardener.

This product is a miracle worker! I have been using it for more than a month and I am in love with the results. I was doubtful when I first tried it, but right away I noticed a difference. It made my whole nail harder, and the best part is it has a shine to it, so it looks great alone. I use it as a base coats every time I do my nails. When I am consistent with it my nails feel as hard as acrylic nails which is pretty impressive. It also protects my nails when I am working with flowers and I noticed they flake and break less. All in all it is a great product and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to improve their nails.

Some motivation

Lately I have not been motivated to be crafty or bloggy recently so I thought it would be a good idea to make a blog post full of motivational pictures. Whenever I feel unmotivated or upset or unsure about myself, I like to look at pictures and text to give me a kick in the behind. So without further ado here are some motivational posters that have got me in a better mood :)
